Are You Addicted to Being Lazy?
Let’s talk about something uncomfortable—laziness.
Not the kind where you take a well-deserved rest after a long day. Not even the kind where you spend a Saturday morning curled up with a book and tea. I’m talking about the quiet, sneaky kind that settles into your routine. The kind that starts as “just five more minutes” and turns into a lifestyle of avoidance, excuses, and spiritual stagnation.
But First—Grace.
This isn’t about shame. It’s about awareness. We all go through seasons of low energy, burnout, or overwhelm. But sometimes, what we call “rest” is really avoidance. What we call “self-care” becomes procrastination. And if we’re honest, laziness can start to feel…comfortable. Familiar. Even safe.
So here’s the real question:
Have you gotten a little too comfortable doing nothing?
Signs You Might Be Addicted to Being Lazy:
- You constantly put things off, even the small stuff.
- You avoid challenges that require effort, even when they’d help you grow.
- You start your day with distractions instead of direction.
- You feel unmotivated but also restless, knowing deep down you’re meant for more.
- You wait to feel inspired before you act…but inspiration rarely comes.
It happens. But you weren’t created for stagnation.
Why It Matters:
Laziness isn’t just about messy rooms or unchecked to-do lists. It affects your faith, your purpose, and your joy. Scripture reminds us that “the soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing, while the soul of the diligent is richly supplied” (Proverbs 13:4)
Laziness robs you of the life God wants to give you. It keeps you from stepping into your calling, becoming your best self, and living in alignment with God’s will.
So What Do You Do?
Here are a few gentle steps to break the cycle:
- Start with prayer.
Ask God to renew your spirit and give you a heart of diligence. He wants to help you move forward. - Do one small thing.
Make your bed. Drink water. Open your Bible. Momentum starts with action, not motivation. - Set simple rhythms.
You don’t need a perfect routine. You need consistent, faith-filled habits. - Speak truth over your life.
Replace “I’m just lazy” with “I’m growing in discipline.” Speak like the woman you’re becoming. - Remember your ‘why.’
You’re not doing this for productivity’s sake. You’re becoming a woman of purpose, strength, and faith. Becoming the best version of you for the life you have coming.
A Prayer to Overcome Laziness:
Lord,
I confess that I’ve let comfort come before calling. I’ve traded progress for procrastination, and I know You’ve called me to more. Renew my spirit. Strengthen my mind. Help me choose diligence, even when it’s hard. I want to honor You with my time, my energy, and my choices. Let my days reflect Your purpose for my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
You’re Not Lazy—You’re Becoming.
God doesn’t call you lazy. He calls you loved. And He’s not done with you. If this post hit a nerve, that’s okay. It means you’re ready. Ready to move. Ready to rise. Ready to become the woman He created you to be.
